Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG: World’s 1st CNG Powered Motorcycle

The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG is a stunning addition to Bajaj Auto’s roster, designed to appeal to ecologically concerned commuters. Combining the dependability and efficiency that Bajaj bikes are known for with the benefits of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), this bike offers both economic and environmental benefits. Let’s look at the specifics of this unique two-wheeler, including its features, performance, advantages, and restrictions.

Bajaj Freedom 125 is world’s first CNG motorcycle. Which is completely a game changer in Motorcycle Market. Until now EVs and petrol motorcycle have dominated the two – wheeler segment market now Bajaj has launched world’s first CNG driven motorcycle. Which is made for utilitarian and daily city commuting purposes. Let’s delve into what this bike can offer and whether this can change the scene of two – wheeler segment market.

Overview

The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG is intended to suit the demands of urban commuters who want to strike a balance between cost savings and environmental responsibility. As one of the few bikes with a dual-fuel system, it stands out in the market for its novel approach to tackling growing petrol prices and pollution levels.

Engine and Performance

Engine Capacity: 125 cc

Fuel System: Dual-fuel (Petrol and CNG)

Power Output: The bike delivers a slightly lower power output when running on CNG compared to petrol, but it remains adequate for city commuting. On petrol, it produces around 10.8 bhp, while on CNG, the output is slightly reduced.

Torque: The torque is sufficient to provide a smooth and responsive ride in urban traffic, though it is slightly lower when using CNG.

Fuel Efficiency

Mileage – one of biggest advantages of Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG is its impressive fuel efficiency. The petrol mode gives mileage of roughly around 60km/l, while the CNG mode of Bajaj Freedom 125 enhances the mileage to around 100 to 102 km/kg.

Fuel – cost savings: since the running cost of CNG is lower than the petrol. Bajaj Freedom 125 running cost is quite lower which makes it economically attractive option for daily commuters.

Environmental Impact

Emissions – CNG burns cleaner than petrol, hence the carbon and harmful pollutants is quite low. Which ensures very low emissions to environment.

Carbon footprints – reduced emissions lead to lower carbon footprints which makes the bike more cleaner and greener choice for riders.

Design and Features

Design – Bajaj Freedom 125 maintains a real classic look of commuter bike with modern enhancements. Looks are quite similar to the Bajaj CT 100. But Bajaj has not compromised with modern features like in rear Monoshock Suspension setup is there for good stability and cornering. Bajaj freedom 125 have sturdy looks and components with long seat setup. In my office we were kind of joking that even 4 people can city very comfortably on this bike.

Safety features – Standard safety features include dependable drum brakes, a sturdy frame, and excellent handling characteristics. However, sophisticated safety features such as ABS are not available. With CNG everyone have concerns for safety but Bajaj have done around 11 crash tests which showed how even after heavy crash the CNG tank did not exploded.

Range – Range is one of strong pursuits of the Bajaj Freedom 125. On CNG you get range of 100 to 102km/kg(Note – this is company claimed mileage for CNG currently) and with 3 L of petrol tank we can estimate the mileage of 60 to 65km/l roughly. Which makes it excellent bike for commuting purposes.

Conclusion

The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG is a good alternative for riders who value both economic and environmental benefits. Its dual-fuel system, exceptional fuel efficiency, and minimal emissions make it a standout choice in the commuter bike category. However, potential purchasers should examine the availability of CNG filling stations as well as the minor power loss associated with CNG. Overall, it is a forward-thinking, practical, and environmentally beneficial alternative for urban commuters.

Note- The bike is newly launched and we have yet to see its performance and power of this bike. The testing in city and practical conditions are yet to done and Bajaj Freedom 125 still has to prove itself to the main critics of market the Consumers.
